Crowe Paradis Services Corporation and Coventry Workers’ Comp Services Partner on Medicare’s MSP Compliance

Joint effort expected to save claims organizations, self-insured companies

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Crowe Paradis Services Corporation (“CPSC”) and Coventry Workers’ Compensation Services (“CWCS”) today announced an unparalleled strategic partnership to provide expert Medicare Secondary Payer compliance to the property and casualty industry. With recent increases in settlement costs prompted by the changes to the Medicare Secondary Payer Act, the combined value of advocacy and expertise at settlement has never been more critical.

The partnership will capitalize on the strengths of both organizations to the mutual benefit of their existing customers. Effective immediately, CPSC will exclusively provide MSP compliance services for CWCS clients, including Medicare Set Aside Allocations, Conditional Payment Discovery and Negotiation Services, and Section 111 Reporting Services. CWCS will provide Crowe Paradis Service Corporation's clients with a comprehensive “tool box” approach to maximizing savings through their Drug Utilization Advisory and Prescription Peer-to-Peer (P2P) programs.

With mandatory Medicare reporting requirements scheduled for Jan. 1, 2011, Crowe Paradis Services Corporation is prepared to provide Medicare Secondary Payer compliance to the property and casualty industry. As a result, CPSC will help those companies avoid costly fines and other penalties.

“Crowe Paradis has consistently delivered high quality Medicare Set Asides and Conditional Payment recoveries with significant savings,” explained David Young, chief executive officer of Coventry Workers’ Compensation Services. “We want our clients to have the best results possible, and in the Medicare arena this now requires the advocacy that Crowe Paradis delivers with the largest Medicare legal team in the country.”

Young stressed the importance of MSP reporting. “We understand that failure to get MSP reporting right could be a significant event for any claims organization or self-insured,” he added. “Crowe Paradis’ reporting technology is outstanding. We want to ensure that all of our clients can benefit from all Crowe Paradis has to offer.”

The partnership will include new protocols for the use of exhaustive DUAs, physician-to-physician peer reviews, and other legal and clinical strategies on the right cases, in the right manner, and with the right tools to maximize the impact with CMS. This approach differs from the blanket recommendation favored by some entities that use a boilerplate DUA on every MSA.

Kenneth J. Paradis, Esq., chief executive officer of Crowe Paradis Services Corporation was equally excited by the synergy the partnership promises. “CWCS is one of the premier cost containment brands in the workers’ compensation industry,” said Paradis. “While we have always included DUA analysis in every MSA, the prowess of Coventry’s clinical programs adds a new dimension to our advocacy with CMS and will help drive additional savings.”
