ICYMI: THE TIMES-TRIBUNE: BRESNAHAN'S BIPARTISAN PLEA BEST WAY FORWARD ON HEALTH CARE

The following information was released by the office of Pennsylvania Rep. Rob Bresnahan:

Yesterday, The Times-Tribunepublished an editorial recognizing U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) for his bipartisan leadership in pushing for action to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enhanced premium tax credits that help keep health insurance affordable for thousands of families across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The editorial highlighted Rep. Bresnahan's decision to join a bipartisan group of lawmakers in signing a discharge petition to force a House vote on extending the subsidies, which are set to expire at the end of the year.

"Still, it does give an issue that has long been a critical one for the American people a shot at a bipartisan fix that to this point seemed unlikely. For that, U.S. Rep. Rob Bresnahan, R-8, Dallas Twp., deserves credit," wrote The Times-Tribune Editorial Board. "Bresnahan was one of the quartet of Republican legislators who went counter to the GOP's wishes and signed the Democrat-led discharge petition..."

"Doing nothing was not an option," said Rep. Bresnahan."Families in Northeastern Pennsylvania cannot afford to have the rug pulled out from under them. I urge my colleagues to put people first and work together on a bipartisan solution that keeps health care affordable."

"It is encouraging that Bresnahan backed up prior promises to protect health care for those in his district," continued The Times-Tribune Editorial Board."Hopefully, bringing this to the floor of the House in January ultimately leads to the type of bipartisan discussion that can make health care affordable and available to those who need it. The only way to achieve that is to prioritize conversation over political motivations."
