AM Best Senior Director, Credit Rating Criteria, Research and Analytics, Stephen A. Irwin will deliver the keynote address, titled, “Innovation and the New AM Best Score,” at a roundtable event hosted by Celent’s insurance practice, on Wed., May 22, 2019, at 9 a.m. (EDT), in New York City, NY.

Irwin will discuss AM Best’s views on the importance of innovation and the rating agency’s plan for evaluating an insurer’s level of innovation and to what extent that evaluation ultimately will impact the measure of an insurer’s financial strength. In particular, the address will highlight key elements of AM Best’s draft innovation criteria procedure, which was released in March 2019. Irwin is responsible for the development, testing and review of AM Best’s credit rating methodology and criteria, as well as promoting consistency in the application of criteria within the rating process. In his 25 years’ experience with AM Best, he has served in a variety of managerial roles, including managing analytic teams that cover U.S. life/health insurers and reinsurers in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
