CARA For Workplace opens year-round caregiving benefit program to employee benefits brokers
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. - CARA For Workplace announced that employee-benefits brokers and consultants can add its 12-month caregiving support and workforce intelligence program to their product mix and introduce it to employer clients at any point during the plan year. The standalone program does not require an employer to replace a carrier, redesign an existing benefits package or wait for annual renewal.
AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving estimate that more than 63 million Americans are family caregivers. Wellness Concepts reports that caregiving can cost employers $6,410 per caregiver employee each year in productivity loss and that employees who are caregivers miss an average of 3.2 workdays per month. Yet many employers still cannot answer basic questions about the caregiving burden inside their own organizations: How many employees are affected? What pressures are they facing? Where is work being disrupted? Which types of support would make the greatest difference?
That gap creates an immediate opportunity for benefits brokers. CARA gives brokers a differentiated solution they can bring to clients between renewals, a potential source of recurring revenue and a way to demonstrate strategic value beyond comparing plans and negotiating rates.
“Most benefits conversations get compressed into renewal season. Caregiving does not. CARA gives a broker a timely reason to engage a client between renewals with a solution that can support employees now, create recurring revenue and produce workforce intelligence the employer can actually use.”
— Mike Weinberger, CEO and Co-Founder of CARA For Workplace
A Broker Opportunity Between Renewals
CARA For Workplace is designed to become a year-round addition to a broker’s employer-benefits portfolio. It can be introduced when an employer is focused on retention, productivity, employee experience, an aging workforce, absence management or the growing demands facing working caregivers. The broker does not have to wait for an employer to issue a formal request for a caregiver benefit.
Because CARA is a standalone 12-month program, it can create a new client conversation without disrupting the employer’s current plan design. It also gives brokers a way to expand an existing relationship with a differentiated offering that addresses a workforce problem many employers recognize but have not yet measured.
More Than a Caregiver Benefit
CARA combines private, practical caregiving support for employees with privacy-conscious workforce intelligence for the employer. Employees receive 24/7 access to personalized guidance, step-by-step actions, communication scripts and resources for the situations family caregivers face. CARA can support caregivers in more than 25 languages.
Employers receive only anonymized, combined information—never an employee’s private questions or personal caregiving details. During the program, the employer receives quarterly aggregate insights into engagement, recurring needs and the caregiving pressures emerging across its workforce.
At the end of the 12 months, CARA produces the Company Caregiving Workforce Case Study—A Case for Employed Caregivers. The customized report is built around the employer’s own workforce experience and is designed to identify meaningful patterns, highlight areas where caregiving may be affecting employees and work, and provide practical recommendations for strengthening support.
“A broker should not have to walk into a client meeting with another generic vendor brochure. CARA gives the broker a much stronger question: Do you know how caregiving is affecting your own workforce? The Case Study helps the employer answer that question and keeps the broker involved in a strategic conversation throughout the year.”
— Weinberger
An Invitation to Benefits Brokers
CARA For Workplace is inviting national consulting firms, regional benefits agencies and independent brokers to add CARA to their product portfolios and identify employer clients that would benefit from understanding and supporting their caregiving workforce.
Interested brokers can review the broker opportunity, request information and begin a conversation about a specific employer at https://caraforworkplace.com/brokers.
“We are asking brokers to look across the clients they already serve and identify one employer ready to understand its caregiving workforce. That conversation does not have to wait for renewal. It can begin today.”
— Weinberger
