LUTCF program returning to NAIFA in 2023

Nearly 40 years after developing the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow designation, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors will launch a new LUTCF program by mid-year.
At a quarterly âState of NAIFAâ webinar, association CEO Kevin Mayeux announced that NAIFA will bring back the LUTCF program âas a solely NAIFA governed and administered program with an overhauled curriculum.â
In 1984, NAIFA developed the LUTCF designation and it is the first designation many life insurance advisors earn after entering the profession. In 2014, NAIFA partnered with the College for Financial Planning to develop an entirely new curriculum that reflected changes in the profession. This year, the LUTCF program will return to NAIFA.
The LUTCFÂ program emphasizes integrated needs assessment of a clientâs total financial situation. The program promotes a thorough evaluation of a clientâs insurance and investment needs before an advisor makes appropriate recommendations.
Also in 2023, NAIFA plans several events for its members, including:
- The inaugural Womenâs Financial Security Fly-In in Washington will be held at the end of March. NAIFA is partnering with Women in Insurance and Financial Services for this event.
- The eighth annual DEI Symposium will be held May 22 in Washington.
- The annual Congressional Conference will be held May 22-23 in Washington.
- The National Leadership Conference will be held Dec. 4-6 in Washington.
NAIFA will move its headquarters over the summer, Mayeux announced. The association will leave its current location in Falls Church, Va., for new headquarters in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington, Va. Mayeux said the new location will offer a training center and reception area.
