Welltower Announces Report Advancing the Development of National Quality Standards in Assisted Living

TOLEDO, Ohio, Nov. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Welltower Inc. (NYSE: WELL), a leading global provider of health care infrastructure, today announced the issuance of a report paving the way for national quality standards in assisted living.  The Development of the National Assisted Living Quality of Care Network and a Quality of Care Framework for Assisted Living Care ("The AL Quality Standards Report") was commissioned by Welltower and represents a commitment to thought-leadership focused on aging well and creating standardized data to quantify meaningful quality-of-life enhancements and care cost-savings in senior living settings.

The AL Quality Standards Report outlines the work of a new stakeholder group, The National Assisted Living Quality of Care Network ("the AL Quality Network").  The AL Quality Network includes best-in-class assisted living operators, academics, industry representatives, and family members of parents receiving assisted living care and is led by Dr. Bruce Leff, Professor of Geriatrics and Gerontology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  The initial work identified five key pillars, or domains, for assisted living care quality that provide a basis for the development of quality measurement and quality improvement at the national level.
