Walpole Public Schools kindergarten registration slated

Times Advocate (Sharon, Walpole, MA)

Registration for incoming kindergarteners in Walpole Public Schools will be conducted from Jan. 3-28.

The school assignment for each child will be visible in the online registration program, Family Connection, when the child's address is entered. To access the online registration, visit www.walpole.k12.ma.us and select "Student Registration" under the "About" tab.

After the online pre-registration form is filled out, parents or guardians can provide the required documents to the school, three ways: Dropped off at the main office of the student's elementary school from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; copied and mailed to the school; or scan and email them to the school secretary. If unable to drop off at the main office of the appropriate elementary school, bring them to the superintendent's office in Room 205 at Town Hall from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays or from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays.

To pre-register a kindergarten age-qualified child, a parent or legal guardian must complete the online pre-registration form and send the following required registration documents to the neighborhood school during registration week: proof of residency, health history and health records including immunization records and an original birth certificate with seal.

Kindergarten age-qualified children are those who have turned five before Sept. 1 of the school year for which they are pre-registering. If a child is currently enrolled or receiving special education services through Daniel Feeney Preschool Center, guardians do not need to submit the online registration form, birth certificate or proof of residency; however, they will need to provide the elementary school with a copy of the child's latest physical along with the completed Kindergarten Enrollment Letter identifying the guardians' preference for the full or half day program and a deposit check if your preference is for full-day kindergarten.

To prepare for pre-registration, guardians should gather phone numbers, including home, cell and work; email address; at least two alternate emergency contacts (authorized to pick up student) including name and phone number; the name and address of the previous school attended, if applicable; health insurance policy number if covered by a public health insurer; original birth certificate with seal; proof of residency; most recent student physical form; health insurance provider name and insurance number. Guardians should review health requirements and complete the health history form (mailed to parents).

Kindergarten registration information was mailed to families on Dec. 20. Those who do not receive registration materials in the mail should contact their neighborhood elementary school.
