Blankenbush receives distinguished insurance service award
North Country Now
North Country Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush, R-Black River, was honored with the Distinguished Insurance Service Award from the Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. during the organization's annual business meeting in Albany.
The award recognizes an individual for significant contributions to and support for the insurance industry. Blankenbush was recognized for his work on insurance issues and his service on the New York State Assembly Standing Committee on Insurance, where he has served as ranking minority member.
Blankenbush represents the 117th Assembly District, which includes all of Lewis County and parts of St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Oneida counties.
Before entering public service, Blankenbush worked in the insurance industry. He began working for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1976 and eventually became branch manager of its Watertown office before founding BEL Associates, an insurance and financial services business.
"I am deeply grateful to PIA New York for this award and for the partnership we have shared over the years," said Blankenbush. "Public service eventually comes to an end, but the obligation to leave our communities stronger than we found them must endure. I am proud of the work we have done together and deeply honored by this recognition."
PIANY presented the Distinguished Insurance Service Award as part of its annual Awards of Distinction. The organization represents independent insurance agents across New York and provides education, advocacy, industry information and business resources to its members.
