Congressman Doug Lamborn has issued the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 2581, the Verify First Act, a bill he co-sponsored:
"One of my main concerns about the original American Health Care Act was that it left in place a loophole from Obamacare that allowed illegal immigrants to access health care tax credits. This piece of legislation closes this loophole and clarifies that tax credits are reserved for legal residents and U.S. citizens in need. I am pleased to support this legislation which firmly establishes the rule of law and ends the waste, fraud, and abuse of a broken healthcare system. I believe this bill is an important step to stabilize and strengthen health care in America."
