ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 7 -- Trupanion, Seattle, Washington, has been assigned a patent (No. 10,013,530, initially filed Oct. 27, 2015) developed by four co-inventors for a "pet insurance system and method." The co-inventors are Kerri Marshall DVM, Seattle, Washington, Darryl Rawlings, Seattle, Washington, Kathryn Plowman, Seattle, Washington, and Chris Cappelletti, Carnation, Washington.
The abstract states: "This disclosure relates to a system and method implemented to facilitate real-time medical coverage for veterinary hospitals. More specifically, the disclosure as a pet medical insurance system and method utilizes data available in veterinary hospital practice information systems to facilitate real-time insurance enrollment and claims processing."
