MSU to Offer Investing for Retirement Course Starting March 26

BOZEMAN, Montana, Feb. 26 -- Montana State University issued the following news:
Montana State University Continuing, Professional and Lifelong Learning will host a four-week course on investing for retirement. The course will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. beginning March 26 until April 16 on MSU's campus in the Animal Bioscience Building Room 138.
The course is for people who are planning to retire anywhere from the near future to 20 or more years from now. It will address strategies for dealing with the current investment landscape, including interest rates close to zero percent and the risk embedded in record-high stock, bond and real estate prices.
Instructor Ed Tompkins, a certified financial planner, will cover topics such as the 10 ways to reduce housing costs, how to measure when participants will hit retirement goals and the role of precious metals and real assets in preserving wealth.
Tompkins is a retirement and asset management specialist and taught retirement planning and investing for the University of Washington and Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
