NEW YORK (AP) _ MetLife Inc. (MET) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter profit of $1.21 billion.
The New York-based company said it had profit of $1.39 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $2.17 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.42 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $20.09 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $20.21 billion, which also beat Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $16.87 billion.
