NORTHBROOK, Ill. (AP) _ Allstate Corp. (ALL) on Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net income of $817 million.
On a per-share basis, the Northbrook, Illinois-based company said it had profit of $2.73. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $2.75 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.74 per share.
The insurer posted revenue of $13.01 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $12.75 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.6 billion, or $4.96 per share. Revenue was reported as $49.5 billion.
Allstate shares have risen slightly since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has risen 22%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $117.69, an increase of 6% in the last 12 months.
