Former Congresswoman Dr. Nan Hayworth Joins HealthEC’s Board of Directors

PR Newswire

PISCATAWAY, N.J., March 22, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- HealthEC, a KLAS-recognized, single-platform population health management company integrating large-scale data to improve outcomes, costs and care, today announced the addition of The Honorable Nan Hayworth, M.D., to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Hayworth represented New York's 19th congressional district in the 112th Congress. A board-certified ophthalmologist, she is the only female physician ever elected a member of the U.S. Congress.

"Dr. Hayworth brings a deep understanding of health reform at the local and national level through her career in medical practice and her work in Congress," said Arthur Kapoor, HealthEC's CEO and President. "While identifying with the pain of physician marginalization and burdensome regulation, Dr. Hayworth is optimistic about the future of healthcare's new payment models—particularly a doctor's ability to deliver excellent care through participation in value-based contracts. We are fortunate to have her join our organization."

While serving in Congress, Dr. Hayworth focused on fiscal issues. She supported repeal and replacement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and was selected to serve on the House Committee on Financial Services that oversees the entire financial services industry, including securities, insurance, banking and housing. Dr. Hayworth was a GOP Young Gun and a member of the House Doctors Caucus, the Whip Team, and the Republican Main Street Partnership. She was also a member of the LGBT Equality Caucus. Dr. Hayworth was recognized by many organizations for her work on behalf of medicine, seniors, environmentalism, animal rights, and agriculture.

Dr. Hayworth is a graduate of Princeton University and Cornell University Medical College. She trained in ophthalmology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. After several years growing her solo practice in Mount Kisco, she joined the Mount Kisco Medical Group (MKMG), now CareMount Medical, where she was a partner until her retirement in 2005. While at MKMG, Dr. Hayworth was a key contributor in developing the practice's electronic medical records system.

Dr. Hayworth will draw upon these experiences as she assists HealthEC in improving the lives of patients through the application of population health management technology.

"I look forward to working with HealthEC's board of directors in helping the company meet and adjust to providers' changing needs during a time of costly, complex regulation focused on compliance rather than patient care," said Dr. Hayworth. "It's exciting to be part of an organization dedicated to developing solutions that empower physicians and provider organizations alike. Our mutual goal is to improve the cost-effectiveness and quality of care of higher-risk patients, as well as entire populations."
