Dec. 06--PARIS -- A fire that destroyed a mobile home Thursday afternoon at 390 High Street is still under investigation hours after being knocked down by firefighters, according to Deputy Fire Chief Mark Blacquiere of the Paris Fire Department.
Deputy Chief Mark Blacquiere said that the Paris Fire Department received a phone call at 12:42 p.m. about a mobile home being engulfed in flames at 390 High Street.
Upon arriving, Blacquiere said that the trailer was "about 60 percent involved."
He said that the home had no insurance on it, and that Red Cross was working on helping the family -- two adults and one teenager -- that lived in the mobile home.
Blacquiere said that two dogs were successfully rescued from the trailer by employees with the Paris Highway Department.
Firefighters were also able to salvage some of the families' belongings.
"We call it salvage and overhaul," Blacquiere said. "When we're at the scene of a fire, we try to salvage anything we can from the fire, take it outside and cover it up with a tarp. We were able to free up a couple of people so they could salvage belongings from the home. The family can replace the house, but those pictures can't be replaced, so we wanted to make sure to get that out for them."
Departments from Paris, Oxford, Norway, Poland, Hebron, Poland and Buckfield responded to the fire, along with PACE Ambulance Service.
