Fact Sheet: More Than $50 Million Provided For Robeson County Hurricane Florence Recovery

WASHINGTON, April 12 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency issued the following fact sheet:

Robeson County at a Glance

Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Florence, Robeson County residents and local governments have been approved for about $50.2 million in state and federal funds.

* Nearly $8.9 million in state and federal grants have gone to 3,675 homeowners and renters.

* As of March 26, 726 flood insurance claims have been filed. An estimated $29.2 million in claims have been paid to date.

* More than $10.8 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 405 homeowners and businesses.

* FEMA has provided nearly $1.3 million to the state to help local governments in Robeson County with Hurricane Florence-related expenses.

Individual Assistance

* FEMA paid for 193 displaced Robeson County households to stay in hotels between September and March in the Transitional Sheltering Assistance program.

* Robeson County has been approved for FEMA Direct Temporary Housing Assistance. Travel trailers and manufactured housing units have been provided for eligible applicants. o As of April 10, 16 households are currently licensed-in to temporary housing units. Two families have successfully moved on to permanent housing by completing home repairs or finding another place to live.

* The State Housing Recovery Center for Robeson County is located at 120 Glen Cowan Rd. in Lumberton and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Public Assistance

* Robeson County was approved for assistance to local governments for debris removal and emergency protective measures Sept. 17 and permanent work Oct. 12.

* As of April 12, 36 Requests for Public Assistance were received and 31 approved to date.

* An applicant briefing was held Oct. 19.
