A class on Wilderness and Urban Survival Techniques will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at MiraCosta College's San Elijo Campus, Room 306 at 3333 Manchester Ave. The Wilderness & Urban Survival Techniques, aka WURST, will provide skills to survive during, for example, a regional emergency or massive power outage. The second of three 2018 Festival Orchestra concerts with award-winning Artistic Director and Conductor Alyze Dreiling will be at 4 p.m. Sunday. Co-presented by the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, the concert features internationally renowned violinist Yuval Yaron, who will perform two Bach Concerti for Violin. The concert includes "Danza Ritual de Fuego" ( "Ritual Fire Dance") from the ballet "El Amor Brujo" ("The Bewitched Love") by Manuel de Falla and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 5. The concert is preceded by a free hands-on instrument activity for children and adults at 3 p.m. with a variety of classical and folk instruments.
