CVS Health cuts 42 more jobs linked to Aetna Hartford HQ

CVS Health plans 42 more layoffs at the Aetna headquarters in Hartford, with most job cuts coming to remote workers based in other states, according to a WARN notice filed with the state Labor Department late on Monday.
The layoffs, set to start on Jan. 25, come on top of 416 layoffs of Hartford-linked workers announced on Oct. 6. With 600 job cuts also announced last year, the company's Connecticut workforce has seen significant reductions as its health insurance business struggles. CVS Health also replaced its CEO last month, pushing out Aetna veteran Karen Lynch.
Monday's layoffs will include 12 employees who work in the Aetna headquarters building at 151 Farmington Ave. near downtown Hartford. The remaining 30 employees report to the Hartford building but are based in states including Texas, Arizona, Utah and Massachusetts.
"All employees who will be terminated as a result of this action have been notified of their specific separation dates and that their separation from employment will be permanent," CVS Health stated in its letter to the Labor Department.
Among the job titles listed as part of the layoffs are senior data engineer, cloud engineer, nurse consultant and "vice president and senior legal counsel," a Connecticut-based position.
