DFL PARTY STATEMENT ON THE 16TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT

The following information was released by the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor Party:
Today marks the 16th anniversary of theAffordableCareAct(ACA), which151,512 Minnesotans reliedon to afford their healthcarelast year. However, Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans' refusal to extendACAenhanced tax credits has led thousands of families to lose their health insurance after premiums skyrocketed by an average of114%.
According to new polling,two-thirdsof Americans say the Republican Congress did the wrong thing by not extending enhancedACAtax credits. Additionally, nearly 1 in 3 adults say they are "very worried" about affording their healthcarebills.
Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans in Minnesota also slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid, putting rural hospitals at risk of closure andincreasing the number of uninsured Minnesotans by 175,000.
"Tom Emmer, Michelle Fischbach, Pete Stauber and Brad Finstad unleashed a healthcarecrisis for Minnesotans,"said DFL Party Chair Richard Carlbom. "Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans failed to bring down costs their choices are making your healthcaremore expensive. Democrats have fought at every chance to bring down healthcarecosts for hardworking Minnesotans. We will keep fighting to ensure Trump and his rubber-stamp Republicans are held accountable for making healthcareunaffordable for Minnesota families."
