BRIEF: One man dead after crash with semitrailer north of Severance

Feb. 05--One man is dead after a crash involving a semitrailer north of Severance this morning.

About 7:15 a.m. a 28-year-old man, in a 2003 Chevrolet SUV died near the intersection of Colo. 14 and Weld County Road 23, when the car struck a 1997 Brenner semitrailer, according to Trooper Josh Lewis, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol. Lewis confirmed the driver of the semitrailer, a 39-year-old man, was uninjured.

He added first-responders had shut down traffic in the area, but had reopened it about 11 a.m.

He confirmed troopers are still investigating the crash, but did not have any further information.

The fatal crash is the county's third so far this year. Through this date last year, eight people had died on Weld roads.
