Texas Green Industry Workers’ Comp Group Announces Newly Formed Safety Committee
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Texas Green Industry WC Safety Group (TGI-WC) announced today the formation of the Texas Green Industry Workers’ Comp (TGI-WC) Group Safety Committee. The Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) allows employers in similar industries to reduce their workers’ comp premiums by purchasing their coverage as a group. The TGI-WC Group is a TDI approved purchasing group that is open to most growers, landscape maintenance and contracting firms, retail nurseries, garden centers and other green industry businesses.
The purpose of the TGI-WC Safety Committee is to review the groups’ claims and loss control practices, identify industry trends and propose the appropriate response to improve safety training and adherence. Members were selected based upon their industry credentials and practical business experience. The safety committee members are Larry Brinkley of Bonick Landscaping, Dallas, Texas; Dick Casci of Ridgewood Landscaping, Inc., Houston, Texas; Chris Graeber of Complete Landsculpture, Dallas, Texas; and Alan Heinrich of Treetown USA, Dallas, Texas.
“Commitment to sound safety practices helping protect green industry businesses and their employees are becoming the norm for today’s green industry professional,†said Ken Hotchkiss of Hotchkiss Insurance Agency, the TGI-WC Comp Group administrator. “And we’re committed to improving the safety practices of the group which impacts the group’s loss ratio, and has helped our members earn on average more than 10 percent of their premium back in dividends*. We are proud of the safety committee members and believe they stand to make a considerable contribution to improving safety within this robust and growing industry.â€
