Truck strikes tree

WHITE DEER TOWNSHIP - Roger P. Billman, 41, of Elysburg, and his passenger, Eric J. Turofski, 38, of Catawissa, escaped injury Tuesday afternoon when a truck in which they were riding exited Interstate 80 and struck a tree, approximately four miles east of exit 199 in this Union County township.

State police at Milton reported Billman was driving a 2001 Ford F- 350 east in the right lane of the highway at 3:40 p.m. when the right front tire blew out, causing him to lose control. The truck then left the road on the south berm and hit a tree with its right front. The truck spun clockwise and hit another tree with its rear driver's side before coming to rest.

Billman and Turofski were wearing seat belts, police said.

Two-vehicle crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday near the entrance to the Walmart SuperCenter on Route 61.

Township police report a 2005 Toyota, driven by Donald Rothermel, 56, of 1137 W. Willow St., was traveling north on Route 61 and attempting to turn into the Walmart parking lot when he struck a 2012 Toyota Rav4, driven by John Bressi, 51, of 209 S. Market St., Mount Carmel.

Neither driver, nor Bressi's passenger, his wife, Diane, was injured in the crash and both vehicles were driven from the scene. Police said Rothermel will be cited for a motor vehicle violation.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Amanda C. Stank, 31, of 716 E. Kase St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for harassment for allegedly pulling the hair of Autumn Breslin, 26, of 237 S. Market St., Shamokin, hitting her in the head and spilling beer on her at 10 p.m. Sunday on Pine Street near Fifth Street.

Simple assault

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Wallace E. Seltzer Jr., 29, of 207 E. Market St., Danville, was charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance at 33 Hummer Road shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday.

Police reported Seltzer is accused of throwing an object off the head of an unidentified female, causing her to suffer a 1-inch laceration on the back of her head. He also allegedly used a baseball bat to smash items in the residence, grabbed the victim's hair and threw her onto the floor.

Seltzer was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Michael Diehl of Milton and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $40,000 cash bail.

False identification

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Jason J. Jeremiah, 33, of 15 Ringtown Mountain Road, Catawissa, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Filarski with possessing instruments of crime, false identification to law enforcement authorities, criminal trespass, driving under suspension and trespass by motor vehicle.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Jeremiah, who was found in a truck with a pair of wire cutters and wire at about 11 a.m.July 4 in the lot at Delta Motors along Route 61, falsely identified himself as his father, Daniel B. Jeremiah, of Bloomsburg, who is the owner of the truck the defendant had possession of at the time. Police, who noted Delta Motors was closed for the Fourth of July holiday, also said there were three outstanding warrants from Schuylkill County for Jason Jeremiah's arrest.

Police said Jeremiah was previously arrested for stealing scrap metal in Locust Township.

Jeremiah was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Michael Diehl of Milton and committed to Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Billy Sampsell, of West Arch Street, reported to township police that sometime between 10 and 11:30 a.m. Thursday, someone struck the right side of his vehicle, while it was parked on Water Street behind his home, causing damage. Police said the damage may have been caused by a white Dodge pick-up truck that was pulling a utility trailer.

Megan's Law violations

MOUNT CARMEL - Richard Small, 33, of Mount Carmel, was charged by Police Chief Todd Owens with two counts of failing to comply with Megan's Law requirements.

Police said Small was living at a condemned property at 200 W. Second St. from May 1 to May 24 and failed to re-register his new address with Pennsylvania State Police.

Small was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones and committed to Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.

Hit and run

STRONG - Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski has charged David R. Disciullo, 27, of 218 E. Columbia Ave., Atlas, with altering or forging documents and plates, false reports to police, hit and run, driving under suspension, fraudulent use or removal of a registration plate, driving without insurance, operating a vehicle following suspension of registration, operating a vehicle without inspection and driving a vehicle without proper registration and certificate of title.

The charges relate to a hit-and-run accident at 12:21 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot at Turkey Hill Minit Market at Routes 61 and 54 in Strong.

Disciullo is free after posting $10,000 bail.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL - Robert Anthony Disciullo, 73, of 433 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to a summary of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

A misdemeanor of disorderly conduct was withdrawn.

Disciullo was charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with calling the Northumberland County 911 Center at 9:54 p.m.July 3 during a major rainstorm and stating that the "pope is the Antichrist."

Heroin charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kegan D. Polastre, 22, of 1325 W. Arch St., Coal Township, was arraigned at 1:40 p.m. Thursday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on two felony counts each of delivering heroin, possession with intent to deliver heroin and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan and Agent David Jordan of the state attorney general's office, Polastre is accused of delivering 10 bags of heroin to a confidential informant for $180Feb. 17 and delivering nine bags of heroin to the informant for $200Feb. 20.

Polastre was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Gembic at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
