Medical Mutual of Ohio Names Chief Marketing Officer
Jared Chaney, executive vice president and chief communications officer at Medical Mutual of Ohio, has been named chief marketing officer at the insurer.
Chaney's new duties are a result of the consolidation of the corporate communications and sales and marketing divisions at Medical Mutual, the company said. Rick Chiricosta, president and chief executive officer of Medical Mutual, said in a statement "this consolidation will better integrate the reputation of our company into our sales process." Chiricosta said the company's mutual status "makes us unique" from the competition and that health care reform gives the company "a tremendous opportunity."
Chaney will now be responsible for all aspects of sales, marketing, underwriting and customer relations for the company.
Since 1997, Chaney has served as Medical Mutual's chief adviser regarding the internal and external communications aspects of business decisions. He will continue to be responsible for advertising, public relations, government relations, community relations, marketing communications and employee communications.
Chiricosta was tapped last year to succeed Kent Clapp, who was killed, along with his fiancee, in a plane crash in Puerto Rico (BestWire, Jan. 14, 2009).
