BRIEF: Family of woman killed in traffic accident seeks partial settlement [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette]

June 12--Relatives of a Carrick woman who was struck by a car in February and died three days later today asked Common Pleas Court to approve a partial settlement from the woman's insurance company that would bring them $39,100.

Carla and Joseph Meinke submitted the petition this morning, asking the court to approve a $50,000 settlement from Progressive Specialty Insurance Company, according to the terms of a policy the woman held at the time of the accident.

Patricia Meinke, 59, was on foot when she was struck by a vehicle on the morning of Feb. 1. She was taken to UPMC Mercy, where she died three days later.

According to court documents, the Meinke family would receive $39,100 of the $50,000, with $10,000 being paid to their attorney, Alan H. Perer, and $900 withheld for inheritance tax.

Mr. Perer could not be immediately reached for additional information.
