Anton/Bauer to Unveil World’s First Dynamic Power System at HIMSS 2011

Smart Technology Enables Hospitals to Use Single Charging Device for Multiple Cell Chemistries, Which Reduces Equipment Costs While Increasing Reliability

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Anton/Bauer is a brand of The Vitec Group and the world’s premier provider of batteries, chargers, and other mobile power systems for the healthcare industry. The company announced today that it will unveil the world’s first dynamic power system — called MPS-4 — at HIMSS11 in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 20-24, 2011. Anton/Bauer will demonstrate MPS-4 for the first time at HIMSS11 (booth 3633).

Anton Bauer’s MPS-4 is the first power system on the market to accommodate multiple cell chemistries with a single charging device, which helps hospitals meet budget and performance requirements. This technology automatically adjusts to future cell chemistry charging requirements with a simple software modification and offers hospitals several benefits, including:

  • The ability to simultaneously charge batteries while carts are in use,
  • 400-800 Watt-hours of continuous runtime, and
  • Seamless integration with battery management software.

“Healthcare reform is driving hospitals to digitize patient health records and capture more information at the point of care,’’ said Michael Accardi, president, Anton/Bauer MPS. “With that as a backdrop, healthcare providers need to achieve the most value from their mobile device investments. Anton/Bauer helps hospitals meet this critical need and, moreover, decrease their overall capital equipment costs. As a result, hospitals are better able to meet compliance regulations and improve financial performance.”

While at HIMSS, Anton/Bauer also will demonstrate its Hot-Swap system, which allows the mobile workstation to remain “Always On,” delivering 100% up-time. The Hot-Swap system provides fully charged batteries that last an entire shift. At the end of the shift, hospital staff can swap out the depleted batteries for two fresh batteries, allowing for nonstop operation. Users of this technology experience a number of benefits, including a choice of multiple battery chemistries to meet budget and performance requirements, significantly reduced weight and extended battery life that lasts years, not months.

“We take a consultative approach to providing the highest quality and most reliable products on the market,” continued Accardi. “That means we take the time to understand what our customers need to power, before recommending the power system that will best meet their goals.”

Made in the U.S., Anton/Bauer’s mobile power system solutions are built on more than 40 years of proven technology experience, including patented technology that increases overall battery life and runtimes. Additional benefits include:

  • Access to multiple configurations, sizes and chemistries: Li-Ni-Manganese-Cobalt, Li-Cobalt, NiMH, Li-Titanate, Li-Iron-Phosphate (aka LiFePO4, or Li-Nano), Li-Poly and other chemistries
  • Fast charging: Within 2 hours while the technology is in use
  • Longer runtime: Entire shift or longer, Anton/Bauer also provides custom systems
  • Stress-tested: Designed to withstand a hospital’s extreme usage patterns
  • Virtually maintenance free: Easy changes and upgrades
  • One location: A single facility houses engineering, manufacturing, customer support and the executive leadership team
  • Post-sales support: Multiple warranty options are available, as well as replacement and refurbishment programs

Senior executives from Anton/Bauer will be available for interviews at HIMSS11. To meet with Anton/Bauer and demo one of its power systems, please contact Jackie Parker at 404-929-0091 x220 or email [email protected].
