Agnes Bundy Scanlan and James R. Causey Join Treliant Risk Advisors as Senior Advisors

Business Wire, Inc.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Treliant Risk Advisors, a compliance, risk management, and strategic advisory firm specializing in the financial services industry, announced today that Agnes Bundy Scanlan and James R. Causey have joined Treliant as Senior Advisors. Having held senior-level positions with large financial institutions and community banks, Agnes and Jim bring a wealth of industry knowledge and experience in regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management.

“Both Agnes and Jim are extremely accomplished individuals in the financial services industry,” said Andrew L. Sandler, Chief Executive Officer of Treliant Risk Advisors. “Their level of experience in implementing compliance and risk management programs and advising banks on critical issues is what we pride ourselves on as a company. They are perfect additions to our team.”

Agnes has over 18 years of experience in the creation, development, and execution of numerous global compliance programs for some of the country’s largest financial institutions. Previously, she served as chief compliance officer at TD Bank and as global chief privacy officer at TD Bank Group. In this capacity, Agnes was responsible for compliance risk management matters involving consumer, insurance, and wealth compliance; privacy and information security; AML and CRA/Community Development.

Prior to joining TD, Agnes served as counsel in Goodwin Procter’s Business Law Department and as a member of its Financial Services Practice, where she advised clients on a broad range of regulatory compliance management issues, including consumer compliance, information security, privacy, AML/BSA, and CRA. She has also served as regulatory relations executive, managing director, and chief compliance/privacy officer for Bank of America and its legacy banks; and as counsel to the U.S. Senate Budget Committee.

“Regulatory compliance, privacy, and information security are key issues and concerns for institutions today,” said Agnes Bundy Scanlan. “I look forward to working with the Treliant team in providing clients with the information, advice, and strategic solutions they need.”

Jim Causey is an experienced executive with corporate finance and operations experience in community banks, thrift institutions, and bank and thrift consulting firms. Jim advises clients on capital planning, corporate treasury, liquidity, risk management, and strategic business combinations. Jim has a long history in corporate finance and capital transactions, including federally assisted and nonsupervisory bank mergers and acquisitions, purchase and sales of mortgage companies and servicing portfolios, and new bank start-ups.

As a former bank director and executive officer (including Chief Financial Officer) for two community banks, Jim’s 35 years of experience enable him to provide strategic and practical advice to banks on the challenges they face today. In addition, his extensive consulting background includes serving as Managing Director of Kaplan, Smith & Associates, a nationwide consulting and financial advisory firm acquired by Credit Suisse First Boston, and various related companies.

“I have always been impressed with Treliant and the way in which they focus on finding the best possible solutions for their clients today and tomorrow,” said Jim Causey. “This is a highly-knowledgeable group that values their client relationships. I am thrilled to be a part of this team.”
