"Incorporating Risk Management into EHSS Auditing"
PHOENIX, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Auditing Roundtable (AR),
a professional association dedicated to the practice of Environmental, Health
& Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) Auditing, announces "Incorporating Risk
Management into EHSS Auditing" as the theme of their Winter 2010 meeting, to
be held January 11 - 13 in Phoenix, AZ.
The AR announces three keynote speakers for our meeting. Ms. Marcia
Philpott, the Senior Risk Analyst at Salt River Project and President of the
regional Risk and Insurance Management Society, will speak Monday on the
critical role of Risk Management. Mr. Ken Atha of OSHA will speak on Tuesday
on Current Issues and Trends at OSHA. Mr. Larry Person, Sr. Environmental
Coordinator from the City of Scottsdale, will speak Wednesday on
Sustainability Programs in Scottsdale.
In the wake of the financial sector's problems, there has been a growing
chorus for more robust Risk Management. As monitors of key elements of
performance and risk management, Environmental, Health & Safety, and
Sustainability auditors can provide additional value to our organizations by
becoming familiar with the basics and current topics in Risk Management.
Presentations will focus on risk transfer, and using risk-based approaches to
managing audits and conducting auditing programs. Regulations designed to
reduce risk (including Homeland Security and Process Safety) and Business
Continuity Planning will also be discussed.
We will also continue with standard features of our meetings, including
industry sector break-outs, topical interest groups, and ample time to mix and
mingle with EHSS auditing and management professionals.
The AR is also offering training courses on Basic Auditing Skills,
Environmental Auditing, and Health & Safety Auditing. Developed by request of
our membership, these courses offer the opportunity to brush up on basics, or
to achieve greater proficiency - perhaps in preparation to take the exam for
Certified Professional Environmental Auditor (CPEA) (an exam offered by the
Board of Environmental, Health & Safety Auditor Certifications will be on
Saturday, January 16, 2010).
In the AR tradition (entering into our 28th year), many of our
presentations are by members - many who have 20+ years of experience in EHSS
auditing. As a result, our meeting fees are modest by comparison to other
organizations. We have arranged discounts for members of several affiliated
environmental organizations, to help stretch your budget even further.

meeting, regional meetings, webinars, training courses, and collaborations
with other professional organizations. The AR's Managing Director, Kathy J.
Rieth, is at [email protected] or 480-659-3738. See http://www.beac.org
