2010 FinTech 100 Rankings Released By American Banker, Bank Technology News and IDC Financial Insights

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Bankerand Bank Technology News, banking publications published by SourceMedia, and IDC Financial Insights, an independent research services firm, released the seventh annual FinTech 100 rankings of the top global technology providers to the financial services industry.

The financial services industry continued to endure a sputtering global economy, yet the top 100 financial technology firms succeeded in growing their revenues. As the industry adjusts to rapid change related to the introduction of new regulatory mandates, its focus continues to be on finding innovative ways to continue to increase revenues. Some noteworthy highlights from this year’s ranking include:

• Industry revenues increased by one half percent over the previous year and the minimum revenue required to make the list hovered just above $50 million;
• There are six new entrants in this year’s ranking: Nomura Research Institute (# 9), Moody’s Analytics (# 46), Six Card Solutions Ltd. (# 53), Actimize (# 83), and Virtusa Corporation (# 88);
• Hundsun Technologies represents the largest positive movement on the list, jumping 18 spots from 89 in 2008 to 71 in 2009;
• Fiserv continues to hold the top position on the FinTech 100 list, but a new top seed is likely next year in FIS with its late 2009 acquisition of Metavante (# 10 in 2008); and
• Further diversification in response to the economy and turmoil in the financial services industry pushed some company’s rankings down (or completely removed them from) this year’s list.

The FinTech 100 is representative of industry-leading vendors who aim to deliver just that.”

The 2010 ranking of the top 100 application/service providers in the financial services industry is categorized and evaluated by calendar year-end revenues (CY09) and the percentage of revenues from sales to financial services industry clients. The ranking includes vendors that derive more than one-third of eligible revenue from the financial services industry. Revenue from network, telecommunications, electronic exchanges and data services providers is ineligible; therefore percentages less than 33 percent reflect these adjustments within the rankings. All rankings are based on IDC Financial Insights’ revenue estimates including information provided by more than 400 individual public and private companies.

The 2010 honorees will be honored at the BAI Retail Delivery Conference & Expo in Las Vegas at an awards breakfast on Oct. 20 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.
