2 Million Homeowners Have Home Emergency Protection with HomeServe USA

HomeServe now covers over 7,600 miles of exterior water and sewer line piping as more homeowners choose to be protected by home emergency repair service plans

NORWALK, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- A growing number of American homeowners are taking measures to protect themselves from unexpected home emergency repairs, according to HomeServe USA (HomeServe). Increased awareness of homeowner responsibility and desire for convenience and peace of mind have helped the company reach the 2 million customer mark and surpass 3 million service plans held by customers.

HomeServe has been serving homeowners in North America since 2003 by protecting customers from the costs associated with unexpected plumbing, electrical, gas, and heating or cooling system repairs not covered by basic homeowners insurance or the local utility.

Of HomeServe’s 3 million plans covering various household systems, nearly 1.3 million repair plans protect homeowners’ water service and sewer service lines around the country. Based upon average service line lengths, this means that HomeServe covers an estimated 7,600 miles of pipe – more than the entire municipal water systems of New York City or Los Angeles.

Beyond water and sewer service line protection, many homeowners find value in multiple plans, with over 45 percent of HomeServe customers selecting to protect more than one household system with two or more plans. For example, homeowners with Water Service Line Coverage have also opted for HomeServe’s in-home plumbing repair plans, expanding coverage to leaks or blockages on an estimated 376,350 toilets, 571,350 sinks and 304,200 showers.1

HomeServe’s customer base has grown 33 percent over the last year, confirming that customers are turning to HomeServe at an accelerating pace – more than double the 15 percent rate of growth of the previous year. Year over year, HomeServe’s plans have proven to be a valuable asset for homeowners; technicians are now making repairs for customers on average every 87 seconds.

“The significant growth in customers and service plans is a strong testament to the value homeowners see in being protected for home emergency repairs,” said Tom Rusin, CEO of HomeServe USA. “We are honored that customers entrust us to protect their homes and finances. We are committed to our Customer Promise and delivering on HomeServe’s mission: To free our customers from the worry and inconvenience of home emergencies.”

“The service was great. The job done was just outstanding,” said Koyzell M. of Pensacola, Florida, a HomeServe customer with Water Service Line Coverage who recently saved $2,100. “It would have cost me a lot of money. What I pay per month is nothing compared to the service I had done."

Over the last decade, HomeServe has been committed to educating homeowners about their responsibilities for repairs to critical household systems and offering a solution that can save them hundreds and even thousands of dollars. HomeServe customers have access to a Repair Hotline that is staffed and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring local, licensed and insured technicians to their home for repairs.
