Two industry finance experts join National Life Group amid accelerated growth

ADDISON, Tx. (Dec. 17, 2025) – National Life Group recently announced the addition of two new finance leaders to join its growing team: Kim Howery as Chief Internal Auditor and Sanjana Raturi as Chief Credit Risk Officer.

Kim Howery is an accomplished internal audit and risk management leader with over 23 years of professional experience, including 17 years at KPMG in both their audit and consulting practices. Howery specializes in operational excellence, implementing governance structures and controls, and optimizing internal audit and risk management functions. In addition, Howery has significant experience helping companies across several industries navigate transformation, change management, IPO readiness, system implementations, and overall process improvement.

“Kim’s strategic approach to risk-based auditing and her steadfast commitment to transparency will be instrumental as we continue to enhance our internal controls and assurance framework in collaboration with our Enterprise Risk Management team and key stakeholders throughout National Life Group,” Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer, Eric Sandberg said.

Howery earned her MBA and Bachelor of Science in Finance from Wayne State University and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Michigan.

Beyond her professional achievements, Howery is dedicated to community service. She has served on the Boards of the American Heart Association of Michigan and the Detroit Metropolitan - Livonia YMCA. She actively supports several organizations and enjoys giving back to the community.

“I am thrilled to join National Life Group and excited for what’s ahead. The Internal Audit function has an opportunity to help the business navigate growth and change, including building processes and controls that are sustainable, manage risk, and deliver better outcomes.”

Sanjana Raturi, Ph.D., joined National Life Group as Chief Credit Risk Officer. A proven leader with over 25 years of experience spanning credit, market, and liquidity risk; stress testing; reinsurance; and climate risk, Raturi brings expertise in enterprise-wide financial risk management and multi-asset class portfolio oversight.

Raturi joins National Life Group from New York Life Insurance Company, where she most recently served as Head of Financial Risk Management. In that role, she led strategic oversight of the company’s financial risks, advanced risk methodology development, strengthened reinsurance risk governance, and deepened enterprise partnerships. During her more than seven-year tenure at New York Life, she built and led teams responsible for Credit Risk, Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, and Stress Testing for a $350 billion asset portfolio. Raturi previously held senior leadership roles at MetLife, enhancing credit risk capabilities for its $450+ billion General Account portfolio, and began her career at Swiss Re before advancing into credit portfolio management positions at TD Securities and Scotia Capital.

“Sanjana brings deep expertise in financial risk management—including credit, market, and liquidity risk; portfolio oversight; and regulatory compliance,” said Eric Sandberg, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer at National Life Group. “She will play a key role in advancing our enterprise risk management practices in partnership with NLG Capital as we continue executing our investment strategy in support of sustainable and responsible growth. Sanjana brings exceptional focus on collaboration, technical experience, and strategic perspective that will further enhance our ability to deliver on our strategic priorities, keep our promises, and serve even more of middle America.”

Raturi holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is also active in community service, volunteering with local nonprofits, the Plainsboro Township Planning Board as a Board member, Art of Living Foundation and the New Jersey FIRST Tech Challenge robotics program.

“I am honored to join National Life Group at such a transformative moment for the organization,” said Raturi. “The company’s steadfast commitment to growth, innovation, and the communities it serves deeply resonates with me. I look forward to collaborating with our talented teams to strengthen our Enterprise Risk Management frameworks, enhance the second line of defense, and support our policyholders and partners.”

With this appointment, National Life Group continues to reinforce its enterprise risk capabilities in alignment with the company’s mission to deliver sustainable value and serve more families across Middle America.
