10 indicted by Rowan grand jury

May 27--Ten persons were indicted May 16 by a Rowan County grand jury.

Indicted were:

--Jordan K. Gulley, 19, for burglary when he allegedly unlawfully remained in Cartmell Hall at Morehead State University with the intent to commit a crime on March 31.

Gulley also was indicted for fleeing or evading police when he allegedly refused to stop for MSU officers.

--Michael Brian Howard, 38, for burglary when he allegedly unlawfully remained in a building owned by MSU with the intent to commit a crime on Jan. 18.

--Dewayne Duncan, 45, for assault when he allegedly fought with nurse Brittany Engle causing minor physical injury on April 26.

Duncan also was indicted for alcohol intoxication in a public place.

--Daniel R. Melton, 28, for two counts of theft by unlawful taking when he allegedly took power tools and jewelry belonging to Sarah Adkinsbetween March 15 and April 7 and a cellphone belonging to Carl Prustbetween April 5 and April 7.

--Matthew J. Barone, 20, for theft by unlawful taking when he allegedly took power tools and jewelry belonging to Sarah Adkinsbetween March 15 and April 7.

--Joshua L. Bowling, 30, for receiving stolen property when he allegedly pawned four gold rings worth $848 belonging to Jeremy Watsonbetween March 19 and April 8.

--Curtiss S. Twiss, 33, for receiving stolen property when he allegedly pawned tools and sold copper wire, nails and a truck tool box worth $2,260 belonging to Kendall Geebetween April 21 and April 26.

--Rhonda M. Smith, 41, for wanton endangerment when she allegedly drove a motor vehicle under the influence with an 8-year-old as a passenger on March 4.

Smith also was indicted for DUI, failure to maintain required insurance, operating a vehicle on a suspended license and careless driving.

--Thomas S. Thongkham, 32, for three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance when he allegedly trafficked in 99 oxycodone pills, more than two grams of methamphetamine and more than five pounds of marijuana on April 26.

He also was indicted for possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Khoitu Vu Tran, 31, for three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance when he allegedly trafficked in 99 oxycodone, more than two grams of methamphetamine and more than five pounds of marijuana on April 26.

Tran also was indicted for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The indictment of a person by a grand jury is an accusation only. That person is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the state must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
