XL Catlin Strengthens Marine Underwriting Team in Latin America

MEXICO CITY, June 22 -- XL Catlin, a brand used by XL Group, issued the following news release:

XL Catlin's insurance operations has strengthened its Marine Underwriting team in Latin America with the following new hires and promotions:

Brazil:

* Aline Watanabe, promoted to Marine Cargo Manager

* Karina Amaral, joined as Marine Cargo Underwriter

* Cintia Takahashi, appointed Marine Liability Underwriter

Mexico:

* Ruben Chanona, promoted to Head of Marine, Mexico

* Francisco Campos, appointed Marine Cargo Underwriter

* Nalini Vargas, promoted to Marine Cargo Junior Underwriter

Commenting, Mauricio Giuntini, Regional Head of Marine, Latin America said: "In 2016, our marine insurance team achieved outstanding growth across the different products we offer. In order to keep underwriting market-leading insurance for our brokers and clients, it is critical that we continue to invest in our team."

Ms. Takahashi and Ms. Amaral bring strong technical underwriting experience in the fields Marine Liability and Cargo and Construction Equipment respectively. Aline Watanabe, joined XL Catlin as Underwriter, Marine in August 2011. During her tenure at XL Catlin, Aline has served as lead of Cargo Global Programs, developed multiple products at SUSEP and is now leading the commercial and underwriting strategies as well as managing broker relationships. They report to Paulo Alves, Head of Marine, Brazil.

Nalini Vargas, who joined XL Catlin in 2016 as an intern has been appointed Junior Underwriter. Francisco Campos is now Underwriter for Marine Cargo (previously Junior Underwriter). They report to Ruben Chanona, who has been promoted Head of Marine, Mexico.

Mr. Giuntini added, "Our team has excellent technical knowledge and experience in their relevant fields, our new colleagues are already supporting our growing portfolios in Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American countries. The promotions are in recognition of their outstanding leadership and innovative approach to serving brokers and clients."
