Vacant house fire 'under control quickly' in Kenmore
Akron Beacon Journal (OH)
Akron firefighters quickly knocked down a fire Saturday night in what appears to be an abandoned, tax delinquent house in Kenmore.
City emergency services received a call for flames "through the roof" on West Wilbeth Rd near the Kenmore leg of I-76. The home appears to have been abandoned, and the blaze did not take long to contain, according to the Akron Fire Department.
It's unclear if anyone was in the home at the time the fire started. The cause of the fire was not listed in a report by firefighters.
A door and window on the front porch of the home were covered in plywood prior to the fire. The home, which is owned by a family investment company, is behind more than $20,000 in property taxes -- or more than the county values the home.
Lt. Sierjie Lash with the Akron Fire Department reported about a half hour after the 11:30 p.m. Saturday fire that there were no injuries. Two searches of the homes found no inhabitants.
