Two Louisiana Disaster Relief Community Events

ST. MARTINVILLE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Join representatives from the offices of U.S. Senator John Kennedy (R-LA), U.S. Representative Clay Higgins (R-LA), the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and St. Martin Bank & Trust at two community events to recognize Louisiana flood relief efforts. Following the Great Flood of 2016, St. Martin Bank & Trust received $117,000 in Special Disaster Relief Program grants from FHLB Dallas that assisted residents of Lafayette and surrounding communities.

Local homeowners and community leaders will share stories of recovery. Members of the media are encouraged to attend. Photo and interview opportunities will be available. The first event will be held at noon, Monday, May 15, 2017, at St. Martin Bank & Trust, 301 S. Main Street, St. Martinville, Louisiana. The second event will be held at 3:00 p.m., at St. Martin Bank & Trust, 114 N. Main Street, Church Point, Louisiana.

The Special Disaster Relief Program provided recovery assistance to help members’ employees and citizens whose homes had been damaged or destroyed as a result of the August 2016 floods in Louisiana. Grants were available for owner-occupied housing in parishes designated for Individual Assistance by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and were intended to assist with reasonable and necessary expenses that were not otherwise compensated for by insurance or other reimbursement.
