Travelers: Q3 Earnings Snapshot

NEW YORK (AP) _ The Travelers Cos. (TRV) on Tuesday reported third-quarter net income of $662 million.

On a per-share basis, the New York-based company said it had profit of $2.62. Earnings, adjusted for investment gains, came to $2.60 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2 per share.

The insurer posted revenue of $8.81 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $8.8 billion, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.52 billion.
