To President Trump and GOP Leaders: Dealing With Obamcare Is a Necessity for Small Businesses
Targeted News Service (Press Releases)
VIENNA, Va., April 24 -- The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council issued the following news release:
The U.S. Congress has returned from it recess, and Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBECouncil) president & CEO Karen Kerrigan said that health care reform and fixing the costly Obamacare mess must be a priority for the GOP and President Donald Trump. Kerrigan issued the following statement on the need for legislation to move quickly so that small businesses are provided relief from costly premiums, and provided more competition in the insurance and healthcare marketplace:
"In order to get small businesses growing and investing again, the Congress and President Trump must address the crushing weight of Obamacare. Its taxes, regulations, and costs remain a massive burden for our economy and small businesses. Until these costs are vastly reduced, many small firms and entrepreneurs will continue to have a difficult time growing and competing as high premium costs eat away at profits. Lower health coverage costs and more affordable choices will also lower a key risk associated with new business creation. If individuals have affordable choices in health coverage - plans that fit their personal and financial circumstances - they will be more willing to start businesses. These new businesses will also become more successful as they will be able to offer health coverage to attract the employees they need to successfully scale. SBE Council strongly believes that a return to robust economic growth, entrepreneurship, investment and quality job creation depends on fixing the ills of Obamacare. GOP congressional leaders and President Trump must focus on this issue this week and next to ensure a reform bill is signed into law in the near future. Small business growth and confidence depend on this happening soon."
