Study Ranks Wyoming As Worst State For Teen Drivers

ROCK SPRINGS (WNE) - A study shows Wyoming is the worst state for teen drivers, receiving the poorest ranking out of all 50 states.

WalletHub analyzed the teen driving environment in each of the 50 states using 23 metrics, ranging from the number of teen driver fatalities to average cost of car repairs to presence of impaired-driving laws.

Not only did Wyoming rank at the bottom overall, but also had poor rankings in the following categories:

Most teen driver fatalities per teen population, ranked 50th;

Most teen DUIs per teen population, ranked 47th, and

Highest insurance premium increase after adding a teen driver to a policy, ranked 46th.

Motor-vehicle accidents continue to be the leading cause of death among the population aged 16 to 19, which also happens to be the age group with the highest risk of crashes, according to WalletHub.
