Targeted News Service (Press Releases)
WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 -- The office of Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, issued the following statement after introducing both a resolution and legislation to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board, created by the Affordable Care Act:
"Obamacare created a board of unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats to make health care decisions on behalf of American families and seniors. The American people have made clear they are tired of expensive care that continually fails them--and it's well past time for change," Sen Cornyn said.
"Introducing this legislation will kick-start the process of repealing Obamacare, and I'm eager to work with my colleagues on the next step forward."
Background Information on the IPAB Joint Resolution and the Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act:
The IPAB Joint Resolution will end the automatic implementation of the Independent Medicare Advisory Board's annual proposal, restricting the decision-making power of the unelected IPAB board members.
The Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act will permanently repeal the provisions of the Affordable Care Act that creates the Independent Payment Advisory Board.
