Rep. Suozzi Introduces Bill on Real Estate Investment Trusts

WASHINGTON, May 13 -- Rep. Thomas R. Suozzi, D-N.Y., has introduced legislation (H.R. 3123) to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 "to provide the same treatment to publicly offered, non traded Real Estate Investment Trusts as is provided to exchange traded Real Estate Investment Trusts under the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1980."
The bill was introduced on May 11 and was co-sponsored by Rep. Darin LaHood, R-Ill. It was referred to the House Ways and Means Committee.
