Rep. Rosen: Republican Efforts to Sabotage ACA Causing Health Crisis for Nevadans

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 7 -- Rep. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., issued the following news release:
Today, Congresswoman Jacky Rosen (NV-03) released the following statement in response to Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield officially pulling out of Nevada's health exchange:
"The Trump administration's repeated calls to let the Affordable Care Act 'implode' on top of Republicans in Congress refusing to give up on repeal is causing widespread market instability across Nevada. Instead of continuing to obsess about passing a partisan repeal bill that does nothing to lower people's health care costs or expand access, my Republican colleagues need to come to the table to find real, bipartisan solutions to fix and improve the ACA. First and foremost, we need to immediately stabilize the market. Without providing stable funding for cost-sharing reduction payments, health care costs for working families will skyrocket, especially in rural communities. I hope Republican leadership will stop playing political games, start reaching across the aisle and finally get to work on solving these issues."
BACKGROUND: Congresswoman Rosen is a co-sponsor of H.R.3258, the Marketplace Certainty Act, a bill that would immediately address market instability by controlling costs and keeping insurers from exiting the Silver State Exchange. The bill funds cost-sharing reductions provided by the Affordable Care Act, which would help drive down premiums costs to make insurance plans more affordable for consumers.
Congresswoman Rosen is also a co-sponsor of H.R. 635, the CHOICE Act, which directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to offer a nationwide public health insurance option that provides value, choice, competition, and the stability of affordable, high-quality coverage financed through premiums, rather than taxpayer dollars.
