REP. O’HALLERAN SEES OPPORTUNITY FOR HEALTH CARE FIXES
Congressional Documents & Publications
Today, Congressman Tom O'Halleran reiterated his call to find bipartisan solutions to fix our health care system.
"The failure of the American Health Care Act last Friday created an opportunity for serious-minded lawmakers to come together to fix our health care system while protecting the values of our families, communities, and small businesses," said Rep. O'Halleran. "Arizona families cannot afford to wait while elected officials play political games with our health care laws."
Arizona has become the focal point for issues with the Affordable Care Act. Many communities have only one insurer offering insurance plans that are often cost prohibitive for hardworking families. Under the GOP-led ACA replacement bill, premiums would continue to skyrocket, disproportionately impacting older, poorer Arizonans in rural communities.
"The Affordable Care Act is not perfect," continued O'Halleran. "Efforts to fix components of the law have fallen flat. I am ready to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to protect the investments we have made in rural and tribal health care and bring relief to Arizonans burdened with the rising cost of coverage and care."
In addition to calling on his colleagues to work together on major policy changes, Rep. O'Halleran has penned two letters to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell asking them to consider tribal and rural health care protections in future health care legislation.
