Rep. Deutch Introduces Bill to Provide for Social Security Benefit Protection

WASHINGTON, July 23 -- Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., has introduced legislation (H.R. 8467) to "amend title II of the Social Security Act and the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to make improvements in the old-age, survivors, and disability insurance program, and to provide for Social Security benefit protection."
The bill was introduced on July 21 and was co-sponsored by Reps. John Sarbanes, D-Md., Steve Cohen, D-Tenn., and Chellie Pingree, D-Maine. It was jointly referred to the House Ways and Means; Energy and Commerce; and Education and Labor committees.
