CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (AP) _ Reinsurance Group of America Inc. (RGA) on Thursday reported third-quarter earnings of $227.6 million.
On a per-share basis, the Chesterfield, Missouri-based company said it had net income of $3.47. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $3.44 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.59 per share.
The reinsurance company posted revenue of $3.15 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $3.12 billion.
Reinsurance Group shares have climbed 15 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $144.86, an increase of 34 percent in the last 12 months.
