NEWARK, N.J. (AP) _ Prudential Financial Inc. (PRU) on Tuesday reported a loss of $31 million in its first quarter.
The Newark, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 10 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were $3.17 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.67 per share.
The financial services company posted revenue of $13.66 billion in the period, missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $14.18 billion.
