President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Virginia

RALEIGH, North Carolina, Oct. 15 -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security'sFederal Emergency Management Agency issued the following news release:
The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the Commonwealth of Virginia to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Hurricane Florence from Sept. 8, 2018, to Sept. 21, 2018.
Federal funding is available to the state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair and replacement of facilities damaged by Hurricane Florence in Henry, King and Queen, Lancaster, Nelson, Patrick, Pittsylvania, and Russell counties and the independent cities of Newport News, Richmond, and Williamsburg.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures for all areas statewide.
Donald L. Keldsen has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Keldsen said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
