ON 61ST ANNIVERSARY OF MEDICAID, 10,000 FEWER ALASKANS HAVE COVERAGE AFTER PASSAGE OF DAN SULLIVAN'S AGENDA

The following information was released by the Alaska Democratic Party:

On the 61st Anniversary of Medicaid being signed into law, Alaskans' premium costs are increasing by 125% one of the steepest increases in premium spikes in the country two Alaska clinics have already closed, five additional hospitals are at risk of closure, and nearly 10,000 fewer Alaskans are on Medicaid following Sullivan's One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) being signed into law.

"Dan Sullivan voted to rip away healthcare, slash funding for rural hospitals, and gut Medicaid knowing full well that his votes would harm Alaskans and the programs our state relies on," said Alaska Democratic Party Chair Eric Croft. "Now, Alaskans are struggling to afford life saving care and medications while he and his Lower 48 billionaire backers get richer. Self-Serving Sullivan has put Alaska last every day in DC, and he will answer for his indefensible vote at the ballot box in November."

Last year, Dan Sullivan lied about the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), saying it "strengthens health care in Alaska. It doesn't cut Medicare, doesn't cut Social Security, does not cut Medicaid. This bill is a home run for our state."

In reality, Sullivan's cuts are making life even more expensive for Alaskans as they already face some of the highest healthcare costs in the country, and some of the most expensive premiums, forcing many Alaskans off their health insurance as they struggle to keep up.

Sullivan also voted seven times in less than two months against extending tax credits that helped lower Alaskans' health care costs September 30th, October 1st, October 3rd, October 6th, October 8th, October 9th, and November 10th he refused to take accountability for the devastating cuts.
