Leading Virginia Rehabilitation and Health Care Center Invests in Electrostatic Disinfection System to Improve Patient Safety

PR Newswire

DANVILLE, Va., Jan. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Inc. is proud to announce our recent investment in the Clorox® Total 360® System. Since our founding in 1918, we continue to gratefully serve our community as a leader in providing long-term care and a continuum of related health services. The Clorox® Total 360® System allows us to keep our commitment of excellence to our residents by protecting them from infection-causing pathogens and providing a healthy environment for visitors and staff.

Bacteria and viruses that often result in illness outbreaks can have tremendous effects on a patient community if not properly addressed through infection protection protocols. In fact, across the U.S., an estimated 180,000 of the 1.5 million nursing home residents may have an infection each day.1 It's important to prioritize this issue as it affects other patient outcomes.

"We do our best to protect our residents from any illness-causing pathogens as we are a trusted resource in our community," said Cheryl Motley, Director of Nursing at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. "Even with more than 90 percent occupancy, we've been able to keep our infection rates low. We knew that our investment in the Clorox® Total 360® System would help us stay true to our commitment of innovative services, providing the highest quality of care for our residents in an effective manner."

The Clorox® Total 360® System uses patented electrostatic technology to atomize, charge, and deliver trusted Clorox® disinfecting and sanitizing solutions onto both commonly-touched and typically hard-to-reach surfaces with a force stronger than gravity, enabling the Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center staff to cover more surfaces in less time. The user-friendly system can cover up to 18,000 sq. ft. per hour, using four times less solution than traditional cleaners, allowing facilities to quickly and comprehensively cover surfaces where harmful germs are often found.

Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center uses the system in rehabilitation and isolation rooms, especially after patients are discharged to ensure pathogens are not transferred from surface to surface. The Clorox® Total 360® System adds an extra layer of protection, safeguarding our patients and allowing our staff to easily utilize the technology for smooth patient room transitions.

To complement our use of the Clorox® Total 360® System, we also use Clorox Healthcare® Hydrogen Peroxide Cleaner Disinfectant Wipes as part of our manual cleaning protocol which are designed for daily use on common hospital surfaces and have fast kill times on more than 40 microorganisms, including 13 antibiotic-resistant organisms. The wipes are utilized on any equipment taken into and out of patient rooms such as lighting, scales, beds and other furnishings.

"Our environmental services staff is beyond excited about the Clorox® Total 360® System," said Motley. "With over 300 beds and 50 private rooms, our team needs to move quickly and efficiently, especially in those hard-to-reach places. We're continuing to find ways to use this revolutionary technology to keep our community healthy and safe. It's made a positive impact on our daily protocols and care delivery."
