JERSEY CITY, NJ - A Jersey City man has been charged with Insurance Fraud after an investigation showed that he submitted a fraudulent insurance claim for a vehicle involved in a motor vehicle collision, said Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
Issa Almaet, 41, was arrested by members of the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Insurance Fraud Unit on Thursday, March 16 and released pending his first court appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court which is tentatively scheduled for March 23.
The investigation determined that Almaet filed a report with GEICO falsely claiming that the damage sustained by a 2014 Jeep Cherokee occurred after an insurance policy was purchased but knowingly concealing that the damage occurred in a collision before the policy was purchased.
