Dec. 14--WATERFORD -- The investigation continues into the Sunday fire that destroyed a Waterford Township house.
A state police fire marshal was at 4202 Klemmer Road today and is expected to return there Tuesday, said Chief Chris Young of Stancliff Hose Co. Stancliff firefighters were called back to the house today to put out some hot spots so the marshal could investigate, Young said.
He said the two-story farmhouse is a complete loss but that the family cat, believed to have been the fire's sole fatality, might have survived. The chief said someone reported seeing a cat around the house site after the fire.
"Maybe the cat did get out," he said.
The Lintelman family of four wasn't home at the time of the blaze but lost everything.
Young said the American Red Cross is assisting the family and a GoFundMe.com page has been set up to take donations online for the Lintelmans. Visit www.gofundme.com/axer8kjw.
The family returned from a Christmas tree shopping trip Sunday to find the house on fire. Dave and Nancy Lintelman lived there with their son, Charles, 26, and daughter, Rose, 21.
Dave Lintelman said he didn't have homeowner's insurance.
