Aug. 07--A new insurance agency has opened in downtown Orangeburg.
Desiree Ross Insurance Agency LLC is located at 1517 Broughton St.
"It was time to spread my wings," said owner and operator Ross, who has worked in the financial and insurance industry for more than a decade.
The insurance agency employs one full-time and one part-time employee.
The agency provides life, health, mobile home, home general liability and vehicle insurance.
"I am really customer friendly and family-orientated," Ross said, noting she is also a broker. "I know what I am doing."
A native of the Netherlands, Ross and her husband, Wayne, moved to the United States in 2003. Her husband is retired from the Air Force and is a Junior ROTC instructor at Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.
The couple have been in Orangeburg for about 11 years.
Prior to opening Desiree Ross Insurance, Ross worked at BB&T bank for about six years, as well as Tom Jones Insurance Agency for about five years.
When she is not running the insurance business, Ross is a praise dance instructor and is involved in mime ministry.
Ross also owns Ross Centre, a rental hall on Russell Street.
